How to Calculate Metal Roofing
Metal roofing panels come in various widths depending on the profile type. The key formula is:
Number of Panels = Roof Width ÷ Panel Coverage Width
Total Linear Feet = Number of Panels × Panel Length
Screws = Panels × Screws Per Panel
Panel Types
- Standing Seam: 12-18" coverage width. Premium hidden fastener system. Most weather-resistant. $8-14/sqft installed.
- Corrugated: 24-26" coverage width. Traditional exposed fastener. Affordable and widely available. $5-8/sqft installed.
- R-Panel / PBR: 36" coverage width. Agricultural/commercial standard. Very economical. $4-7/sqft installed.
- 5-V Crimp: 24" coverage width. Classic residential profile. $5-9/sqft installed.
